Katherine Billingham has nearly forty years of P&C and life reinsurance and insurance experience as an attorney and arbitrator. She currently serves as EVP and General Counsel for DUAL North America, Inc.  DUAL is part of Howden Group Holdings, the largest underwriting company worldwide. Prior to that she was the General Counsel of Scottish Re, a life reinsurance company, for six years.

She started her career at an insurance defense law firm and then moved into reinsurance as General Counsel of Universal Reinsurance Corporation (Bellefonte) and its re/insurance affiliates.  In 1990 she started her own law firm and represented re/insurance companies in direct coverage litigation as well as reinsurance arbitrations, and served as an arbitrator for the courts. She has also served as the Reinsurance Consultant to the Ohio Insurance Department Liquidation Office.

In 2003, Ms. Billingham launched a consulting firm with a focus on providing mediator and arbitrator services for the re/insurance industry.  She is a certified arbitrator and mediator with ARIAS, and a certified neutral with the American Arbitration Association.  She has given numerous presentations and published several articles on mediations and arbitrations, and has taught many courses on ADR at the Charlotte School of Law.

She received a Juris Doctor from Stetson in 1982. Ms. Billingham is licensed to practice law in Florida, Ohio and North Carolina.
