Jane Downey is an internationally known Risk Management consultant and Insurance industry expert. Jane founded Clarity Concepts 25 years ago and has provided a variety of diverse, multinational organizations, with her independent Insurance and Risk Management expertise. Jane has a background in both Insurance brokerage and Risk Management. Her specialty industries include manufacturing, financial institutions, and technology risks. She has made many Risk Management reports to the C-Suite.
Clarity Concepts, also maintains a significant practice in enterprise risk consulting and expert witness engagements. Her expert witness work focuses on broker liability, claims management, risk management and risk control standards, and insurance premium and coverage disputes.
Claims Management
Jane has a significant background in insurance claims. She has negotiated large Property, Marine, General Liability, Employment Practices Liability, and Bad Faith claims. Her work is also focused on claims management and reducing Workers Compensation claims and expenses. She participated in the Wellington Asbestos coverage negotiations.
Risk Management Educator and Academic Experience
Jane has served as adjunct faculty at Temple University in Risk Management and Leadership and at Penn State University in Crisis Management. She currently teaches the CE classes: Advanced CGL, Preventing Broker E&O claims, E&S Market and Intro to Casualty and Intro to Property Insurance for the Institute of Strategic Educational Partners.
Education
Jane is a Summa Cum Laude B.A. graduate of Temple University’s Fox School of Business with a dual degree in Risk Management and Accounting. She ranked first in her graduating Risk Management class and was one of 12 graduating seniors chosen nationally for the National RIMS conference scholarship. Jane also obtained her master’s in education with Honors from Temple in the Psychology of Groups.
Insurance Arbitration Certification
Jane recently completed the ARIAS requisite training as an arbitrator and will soon pursue certification as both an insurance arbitrator and mediator.

Jane holds the Property and Casualty Insurance Brokerage licenses in the States of PA and NJ

Unconscious biases and influencers affect decision-making in multiple ways. Because we don’t recognize them, they can unwittingly alter the outcomes of the challenges we face as arbitrators, lawyers, and insurance professionals. There are group dynamics tools we can use to improve outcomes in litigation.
